Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, will have a release clause of €140 million in a one-year Napoli contract extension after an agreement was reportedly reached by Nigerian’s camp for a contract extension till June 2026.

Osimhen’s current deal runs out in June 2025 and he has been linked with several top European clubs.

An earlier report revealed on Wednesday that Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda met with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis over the future of the reigning Africa Footballer of The Year.

De Laurentiis had claimed a few days ago that he had reached an agreement to extend Osimhen’s stay at the Stadio Maradona.

According to top European transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Napoli had hoped for a new two-year contract with the Super Eagles star striker whose current deal will run out in June 2025 but could only agree for a year.

Romano also revealed that the Nigerian striker will get an ‘important’ pay rise in his new deal as well.

“Napoli reached an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen on a new contract with a release clause between €130 million and €140 million in his new deal”, Romano wrote on X.

“It will be valid until June 2026, one more year and the Nigerian’s release clause will be around €130 million”.

The 24-year-old who saw off competition from Egypt captain Mohamed Salah and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi is expected to make his 95th Serie A appearance for Napoli when they take on Cagliari at the Diego Maradona stadium on Saturday.

The former Lille and Wolfsburg striker has scored 56 Serie A goals and made 14 assists since he arrived in Italy in 2020.
