Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has commended Premium Trust Bank for remodelling Baptist Primary School, Ikogosi-Ekiti, his alma mater, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
Oyebanji gave the commendation on Saturday during the commissioning of the renovated school, which features modern classrooms, information and communication technology (ICT) facilities, staff quarters and other supporting infrastructure.
The facility was formally handed over to the Ekiti State Government to improve teaching and learning.
The governor expressed appreciation to the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Emmanuel Emefienim, and its management for the intervention, describing the financial institution as a dependable partner in the development of Ekiti State.
He said the project aligned with his administration’s educational transformation agenda, which focuses on improving learning environments, teaching methods and curriculum delivery.
According to Oyebanji, the upgraded facilities would provide teachers and pupils with a conducive environment for academic development while preparing children for the demands of the 21st century.
He also pledged his administration’s continued support for public-private partnerships as part of efforts to attract more private sector investment to the state.
The governor disclosed that Premium Trust Bank fully funded the project, adding that the improved learning environment would inspire pupils to pursue their ambitions and become future leaders.
Speaking at the event, Emefienim described the intervention as more than a school renovation, saying it represented hope, opportunity and a commitment to the future of children.
He stressed that education remained a priority in the bank’s corporate social responsibility agenda, noting that the private sector had a responsibility to complement government efforts to improve educational infrastructure and learning outcomes.
Also speaking, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele commended Oyebanji for fostering relationships that attract development to Ekiti State.
Bamidele described the project as a product of the longstanding relationship between the governor and the bank’s leadership, noting that such partnerships continued to deliver benefits to the state.
He also praised Emefienim for his commitment to development, recalling his financial support of more than ₦100 million for the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Femi Akinwumi, described the remodelling as a significant contribution to educational development.
Akinwumi said the project demonstrated the importance of partnerships in complementing the state government’s efforts to expand access to quality and inclusive basic education.
