Penpushing inaugurates planning committee for 5th anniversary lecture

The Management and Editorial Board of Penpushing Media has inaugurated adhoc-committee for the planning and arrangement of its fifth annual anniversary lecture, scheduled to hold in July.

In a statemen at the weekend, the Board chairperson, Mrs Funke Fadugba said the committee members included Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi (Chairperson) and Sina Adefolahan (Secretary); and other members, Gbenga Onayiga, Dr Adewunmi Alayaki, Doyin Lasisi, Hon. Remmy Hazzan, Toyin Ogunbomehin and Yemisi Fadairo ( who is representing the board).

Inaugurating the committee, the board said it had no doubt that, as key members of the group, and with their individual pedigree, they had the competence to organise a befitting and memorable event.

“We have no doubt that as key members of the group and with your individual pedigree, you are competently able to not only organize a memorable event, but will raise the standard of the annual event. Congratulations”, the board stated.

The maiden edition of the Penpushing Media anniversary lecture had former Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oye Ibidapo-Obe (now late) as the Guest Lecturer. He spoke on “Building Parameters for Trust to Achieve Political and National Growth”.

The second anniversary lecture had Country Director of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Mr Ronald Kayanja, as Guest Lecturer who spoke on, ‘The Media and the Quest for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’

The third edition featured former Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Prof Yemisi Obilade as Guest Lecturer. The theme was ’The Nigerian State, Political Evolution, And Multi-Party Democracy: Education to the Rescue”.

For the fourth edition, the Guest Lecturer and Regional Director for West Africa at the Ford Foundation, Dr Chichi Aniagolu delivered a presentation on the theme, “Social Media Regulation: Insecurity and Elections Accountability in Nigeria”.

The committee chairperson pledged members’ commitment towards a befitting and memorable lecture, adding that they would not fail in their responsibilities while indicating that work has commenced on preparations for the annual event.

Akiyode-Afolabi thanked the management and editorial board of Penpushing Media for considering the team worthy of the assignment, adding that it is no more news that the organisation is a household name globally in the media industry, and known for its commitment in dissemination of authentic news across the world.

“We want to appreciate management and editorial board for this honour to serve, and we also want to express appreciation to all stakeholders and members on Penpushing platform across the globe, particularly our elders and leaders on the platform. As a committee, we shall do our utmost best and not disappoint. The Penpushing has been able to unite us, and we owe it a duty to perform creditably well. God on our side, we shall have a memorable event”, she said.
