The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old suspected cultist, Muyideen Olatunbosun, during an intelligence-led anti-crime patrol in Ikorodu.
The command said Olatunbosun was arrested around the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu following credible information received by operatives during the patrol.
According to the police, a search of the suspect led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, criminal charms and an illicit substance popularly known as “Ice”.
The command said the arrest formed part of its ongoing efforts to tackle cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.
Olatunbosun remains in police custody and is assisting investigators, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of his alleged cult group.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to information.
Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations against cultism and other forms of criminality across the state.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police through the command’s emergency lines.
