The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Senator Ireti Kingibe will not return to the National Assembly after the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the statement on Tuesday while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects across the FCT.
The minister also criticised Kingibe over allegations that the FCT Administration obtained loans without the approval of the National Assembly.
Kingibe had accused the administration of taking loans without legislative approval.
Responding to the allegation, Wike said all loans obtained by the FCT Administration had followed due process and received the necessary approval from the National Assembly.
“She is an illiterate, with all due respect, and that is why she is not going back to the Senate. She has nothing to offer to the people of the FCT,” Wike said.
The minister explained that any loan obtained by government would be captured in the budget and subjected to the required approval process.
Wike also said he would no longer engage with Kingibe over the matter, claiming that FCT residents had already decided to support President Bola Tinubu and his preferred candidate for the FCT senatorial seat, Philip Aduda.
“When the time is right, let her pack her bags out. The people have made their choice by agreeing to support President Tinubu, and then will support Philip Aduda for Senate,” he said.
