The Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has urged its officials to pay attention to their mental health in order to remain productive employees and useful individuals to their families and society at large.
During a two-day staff training, held at the STO Resource Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, at the weekend, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Biodun Onayele said: “This programme is not just another event on our calendar, it is a call to action; it is an opportunity for us to come together as a team, to share our experiences, to learn from experts in the field, and to equip ourselves with tools that will help us navigate the complex landscape of mental well-being”.
He urged the participants at the training to ensure that the advocacy on mental health awareness didn’t end with the programme.
“It should be seen as a catalyst for ongoing efforts to prioritise and promote emotional well-being within the workplace.
“Just as we invest in professional development, we shall also invest in nurturing the health of our minds and hearts”, Onayele said.
The Director of Administration and Human Resources of the ministry, Mrs. Aderonke Bello stated that the training was organised to further draw the attention of the staff to the need to pay attention to issues of mental health and well-being, in view of recent happenings.
