Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to remain focused on achieving greater success rather than becoming complacent with their accomplishments.
She gave the advice on Friday while receiving the leadership of the All Progressives Congress National Youth Wing at the State House in Abuja, where she also donated nine buses to support the activities of the party’s youth leaders.
According to a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady encouraged young people to embrace diligence, patience, integrity and hard work in their pursuit of success.
“God always know our needs and that is what the young people do not know, they are always in a hurry,” she said.
Using the eagle as an example of resilience, Senator Tinubu urged the youths to develop the courage to overcome challenges and pursue their own paths instead of comparing themselves with others.
“You have to have the Eagles mentality. When the Eagle see the storm, he laughs at it and sees how he can fly above it. That is what you should all do. You should always look for your own path and not because that person has it, I want it,” she said.
The First Lady also commended the APC youth leadership for working together to strengthen the party’s activities, particularly at the grassroots.
She urged them to continue promoting the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and remain committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“As one of the arms of the ruling party, with a mandate to carry the banner of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, its members and leaders must show resilience and deep commitment to a tomorrow built on hope,” she said.
As part of her support for the youth wing, Senator Tinubu presented nine buses to the APC National Youth Leader, Deputy National Youth Leader, zonal youth leaders and the Federal Capital Territory leadership.
The vehicles are expected to be used for party activities and community service.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, expressed appreciation to the First Lady, saying the donation would strengthen the youth wing’s outreach ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda. What you have done today is to enhance our capacity to be able to reach out not just for electoral mobilisation but to be able to improve the lives of Nigerians,” Israel said.
He added that the youth wing would use the support to establish structures and intensify its campaign activities across the country.
“From this moment, we are now mummy’s men for Asiwaju and we are going to set structure to run campaign in the 36 states of the federation,” he said.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, Israel added, “You have raised boys to men. We came here, many of us without vehicles but we are leaving with brand new buses. We are very grateful ma.”
