Rotary Club of Ojodu delivers grant projects to schools in community

Rotary Club of Ojodu has commissioned a significant grant project benefiting three schools in the Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

The club gave out 18 white marker boards; two renovated classroom blocks; laboratory equipment and library books with shelves; two crèche beds, bed sheets and mattresses; 3-in-1 printer (Laser MFP 135w) reading books; and other stationeries to Ojodu Abiodun Community Primary School (I and II), and Ojodu Abiodun Community Junior School.

The club said that the project aims to enhance educational facilities and provide critical resources to local schools in Ojodu community.

At Ojodu Abiodun Community Primary School, venue of the event, the Governor, Rotary International District 9110, Rotarian Ifeanyi Ejezie emphasised the importance of giving back to the society, highlighting Rotary International’s long-standing commitment to community service.

The DG, who was represented by the club’s Assistant Governor, Rotarian Afelogun Idowu encouraged Rotarians to continue supporting the Rotary Foundation, noting that such contributions enabled grants that make impactful projects like those commissioned.

President of the Rotary Club of Ojodu, Rotarian Ijeoma Nwosu expressed profound gratitude to the DG for facilitating the grant that enabled the projects. She urged the management of the benefitting schools to maintain the donated items and ensure that they are used for their intended purposes.

A significant moment of the event was the signing of the Sustainability and Maintenance Memorandum of Understanding between the school management and the Rotary Club of Ojodu, ensuring the longevity and proper upkeep of the donations.

The ceremony witnessed an enthusiastic turnout from community members, school staff, students, and local leaders. The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Ojodu for their steadfast support and generosity towards the schools for over a decade.

The principals and head teachers of the benefitting schools highlighted the immediate positive impact the project would have on their student’s academic experiences and overall well-being.

Also in attendance were the Chairperson of the club’s Rotary Foundation, Assistant Governor Ezinne Obioha; members of the club’s Board of Directors; some other Rotarians; and the management of the host schools.

Rotary Club of Ojodu started in 2002 as a provisional club and was officially chartered on 8 March 2005 with 26 members. It has grown significantly, completing numerous projects benefiting the indigent members of the Ojodu community.

According to the club, it remains dedicated to serving the local community through various initiatives focusing on education, health, and economic development.
