The Rotary Club of Ojodu has installed medical laboratory scientist and entrepreneur, Rotarian Johnpaul Chigbo, as its 22nd president, with plans to implement humanitarian projects worth more than N70 million across key areas of community development.

The installation ceremony, held last Saturday at NECA House, Ikeja, Lagos, brought together business leaders, healthcare professionals, Rotary International officials and other dignitaries to witness the leadership transition and the unveiling of the club’s priorities for the Rotary Impact Year.

Speaking shortly after his installation, Chigbo pledged to strengthen the club’s humanitarian interventions through sustainable projects aimed at improving lives, supporting vulnerable communities and expanding access to essential social services.

He disclosed that the club had earmarked more than N70 million for proposed initiatives covering Rotary International’s seven areas of focus: disease prevention and treatment, basic education and literacy, water, sanitation and hygiene, maternal and child health, community economic development, environmental protection, and peacebuilding.

According to him, the planned interventions reflect the club’s commitment to addressing pressing societal challenges while sustaining Rotary’s tradition of service to humanity.

Chigbo expressed gratitude to members for entrusting him with the leadership responsibility, promising an administration anchored on service, collaboration and measurable community impact.

He also commended his predecessor, Rotarian Martins Nnanna, for his contributions to the club’s growth and development, pledging to build on existing achievements and explore new opportunities for humanitarian intervention.

The ceremony attracted several Rotary leaders and dignitaries, including District 9111 Governor-Elect, Dr Samuel Ayetutu; District Governor-Elect Designate, Rotarian Ade Oyenekan; past district governors; district officials; and other members of the Rotary family.

Chigbo, a Paul Harris Fellow, is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jaysk Medics. He is also a public administrator whose career spans healthcare delivery, business management and humanitarian service.

An indigene of Otolo Nnewi in Anambra State, he obtained a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences degree from the University of Nigeria in 2009 and later earned a Master of Public Administration degree.

Before becoming the club’s president, Chigbo served in several leadership capacities within Rotary, including Club Secretary, Youth Service Chair, Chairman of the Polio Campaign Committee and Chairman of Rotary Health Family Day.

Through these roles, he participated in initiatives focused on public health, disease prevention, youth empowerment and community development.

The installation ceremony also provided an opportunity for Rotary leaders, business executives, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships in support of the club’s humanitarian programmes.

With the proposed N70 million project portfolio, the Rotary Club of Ojodu aims to expand its community development efforts under Chigbo’s leadership, guided by Rotary International’s principle of “Service Above Self”.
