On the anniversary theme, ‘Inter-Agency Collaboration to Enhance Seamless Regular Migration’, the governor called for synergy between the Nigeria Immigration Service, security apparatus and other personnel responsible for border management. This, according to him, could be done by sharing relevant information and resources to achieve a common successful goal.

He said: “At this stage of our national development and given the myriad of challenges facing us, we must encourage and strengthen collaboration and partnership among critical government agencies for effectiveness, proper coordination and efficiency”.

Sanwo-Olu, who acknowledged that the NIS has no doubt continued to evolve, especially in embracing technology and innovation to make its operation more efficient and align with global standards, noted that the agency must be receptive to further encourage and inspire foreign investors to the growth and development of Lagos economy, which is geared towards making Lagos a 21st Century Mega Economy as represented under his administration’s THEMES+ Development Agenda.

He congratulated the Acting Comptroller-General of NIS, Mrs. Caroline Wuraola Adepoju for her hard work, dedication and patriotism since assuming office.

Similarly, he commended the Comptroller of Immigration Service of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, CIS Anne Adesokan and all officers of the command for working diligently in the busiest airport in Nigeria despite the peculiar challenges.

In her welcome address, Adesokan said that the Nigeria Immigration Service has been re-positioned as a modern, effective and efficient service, manned by a well-trained and motivated workforce to strengthen the security and prosperity of Nigeria through proactive, effective and efficient border security and migration management.

She urged all critical stakeholders to collectively foster and strengthen existing interagency collaboration and cooperation to enhance a seamless migration of local and international travelers.
