Sanwo-Olu receives New Telegraph’s Infrastructure Development award

It was yet another day of honour and special recognition for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as he received the New Telegraph newspapers’ Governor of the Year Award for Infrastructure Development.

The award ceremony, which had an array of dignitaries and eminent personalities in attendance, was held at the prestigious Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday.

Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat thanked the management of the newspapers for the recognition and award for government efforts in improving infrastructure in the State.

According to a statement by Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor (Office of the Deputy Governor), Mr. Tunde Alao, the deputy governor added that the award would spur the state government to do more not only in Infrastructure development but also in other sectors of the economy to enhance the living standards and well being of Lagosians.

He said: “It is gratifying and nice to be here this evening and for being appreciated for our little efforts in improving Infrastructure in our dear state. I thank the New Telegraph management for the award which is to appreciate us and in a way to motivate us and other awardees to do more . We will not rest on our oars until we deliver on our campaign promises”, Hamzat said, adding that many more projects are on the way, waiting for actualisation.

Earlier, the Managing Director/Editor -in-Chief of Telegraph Newspaper, Mr. Ayodele Aminu said that the New Telegraph Awards was put in place to identify, assess and laud successful leaders who have made their Marks in politics, governance, industry and other spheres of life.

“This is because the organisation believes that such benchmarking will galvanise the awardees towards greater productivity and excellence in their chosen fields”, he explained.

He further said that the panel of judges and editors spent time sifting through numerous nominations, documentation and files before arriving at the choices.

Aminu said that the event was a testament to the boundless potentials of human perseverance, innovation and passion in catalyzing transformative progress and elevation of human experience.
