The inaugural meeting between the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and the 20 participating clubs has been scheduled for next Monday in Abuja.

According to the Head of Operations, Davidson Owumi, the meeting will hold from 6 pm at the Sandralia Hotel.

Although no agenda was listed in the notice of invitation, it is believed the IMC will seek to meet one-on-one with the clubs who are the first line stakeholders in NPFL.

Other possible talking points include the ongoing Club Licensing for the 2022/23 season, IMC development ideas and contributions from the clubs as well as a date for the commencement of the season, the format and calendar.

The NPFL is being administered by an Interim Management Committee, which was constituted two months ago by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to oversee the affairs of the Nigerian premier league. The committee will function until a substantive professional league board is put in place.

In September, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development announced that the Federal Government would no longer recognise the League Management Company as “operator of the Nigerian Professional Football League”. It then set up the IMC to oversee the affairs of the League until a proper Professional League Board is constituted in accordance with the Statutes of the NFF”.
