Security challenges end soon, Sokoto assures residents

Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to address the causes of banditry and other security challenges in the state.

In an interview on some of the security challenges being faced by the state, Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security Matters, Col. Ahmed Usman (rtd.) said: “Our government is willing and fully committed to addressing the causes of all the security problems. “Remember, our local government areas are now functioning more than before and we are working assiduously to come up with programmes aimed at empowering our youths and women among other measures.

“Our security agencies have been trying their best and with the kind of support they have been getting from this government, I know our security challenges will soon be a thing of the past.

“Just a few days ago, we handed over 70 brand new patrol vehicles to security agencies in the state. The vehicles, comprising of Toyota Hilux and buffalos were purchased by the state government to further strengthen the attack and surveillance capacity of security agencies in the state.

“There were other measures taken which we cannot disclose because we don’t want to preempt our strategies towards addressing insecurity in the state”.

He also spoke on the handing over of 66 persons rescued by the security agents to the state governments which he described as a source of joy not only to their families members or the state government but to the entire people of the state.

“This is because our people now know that, they have a serious government in place and its investment in security is yielding positive results”

“The rescue efforts is a demonstration of the capability of the army and the fact that I, the Special Adviser, who is a retired officer in the army understand what it takes to motivate them to achieve results”, he added.
