Senate okays Tinubu’s request for 20 special advisers

The Senate has approved a request from President Bola Tinubu to appoint 20 special advisers.

After the letter of request was read read by the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday, it was given speedy approval.

The Senate President said that it is of “utmost urgency” that the President has a team to work with.

“Because there is no name for special advisers we will just approve it from here”.

“We feel that that this is something of utmost urgency”, Lawan said.

The development came days after President Tinubu announced the appointment of the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff.

He also announced former Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Akume was governor of Benue State between 1999 and 2007.

President Tinubu also appointed Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia as Deputy Chief of Staff. Presently a Senator, he had also served on two occasions as Deputy Governor of Jigawa State.
