The Federal Government delegation, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, visited Bauchi State to convey President Bola Tinubu’s condolences to the state government and the people of Bauchi over the passing of the 15th Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Ɗanyaya.

Speaking at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Bauchi on Friday, Shettima expressed President Tinubu’s shock and sadness upon hearing the news of the monarch’s demise.

He stated, “The late emir’s contributions to the development of Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole are significant.

“He played a vital role in nation-building.”

Describing the monarch as a unifying force who worked tirelessly to promote peace, stability, and development in Bauchi State and beyond, Shettima praised his commitment to education, healthcare, and economic development, calling him a champion of progress and a beacon of hope for his people.

In response, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, while receiving the delegation, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Vice President for the condolence visit.

He noted, “The late emir was a revered leader and a symbol of unity in the state. His role in promoting peace and development made him a true leader and a father to all.

“His wisdom and guidance will be greatly missed.”

The 15th Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya, died on 24 August 2024, after spending 46 years on the throne. He was 88 years old and was buried according to Islamic rites.

Following his death, the Bauchi State Government approved the nomination of his eldest son, Haruna Yunusa, the immediate past Chiroman Ningi, as his successor on 1 September.
