So-Safe corps officials, Alfa, others arraigned for assault, false information

Forty-four-year-old Alfa Yisa Rasheed has been arraigned before a magistrate court alongside five others on a four-count charge, which include providing false information to the police, assault, and malicious damage among others.

The other accused persons facing the alleged crime at Chief Magistrate Court, Ota include Omotayo Adeniyi (53), Lateef Ibrahim (22), Adeniyi Rasak (20), Akinrele Adetayo (32) and Folayemi Abolade (32)

In the original case file, the Investigating Police Officer, Emeweruwa Marvelous told the court that the offences were punishable under the criminal code of Ogun State.

Two of the accused – Adetayo and Abolade – were said to be officials of the So-Safe-Corps, a security arm of the Ogun State Government.

The charges read: ‘That you Yisa Rasheed ‘M’,Omotayo Adeniyi ‘F’, Lateef Ibrahim ‘M’, Adeniyi Rasak ‘M’, Akinrele Adetayo ‘M’ and Folayemi Abolade ‘M’ on the 7th of September, 2023 at about 1000hr at Sanusi Street, Iroko Sango Ota in the Ota magistrate district did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit:assault and malicious damage and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code law, laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.

‘That you Yisa Rasheed ‘M’, Omotayo Adeniyi ‘F’, Lateef Ibrahim ‘M’, Adeniyi Rasak ‘M’, Akinrele Adetayo ‘M’ and Folayemi Abolade ‘M’ on the same date time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did assault one Rasheed Kareem ‘M’ and cause him bodily harm and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 335 of the criminal code law of Ogun State of Nigeria 2006.

‘That you Yisa Rasheed ‘M’,Omotayo Adeniyi ‘F’, Lateef Ibrahim ‘M’, Adeniyi Rasak ‘M’, Akinrele Adetayo ‘M’ and Folayemi Abolade ‘M’ on the same date time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did willfully and unlawfully damage Rasheed Kareem ‘M’ cloth valued sum of Ten Thousand Naira only(N10,000) and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 451 of the criminal code law of Ogun Ste of Nigeria,2006.

“That you Yisa Rasheed ‘M’,Omotayo Adeniyi ‘F’, Lateef Ibrahim ‘M’, Adeniyi Rasak ‘M’, Akinrele Adetayo ‘M’ and Folayemi Abolade ‘M’ on the same date time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did give false information to the police against Rasheed Kareem ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 125 of the criminal code law of Ogun State of Nigeria,2006”.

Chief Magistrate A. S. Soneye granted bail for the accused in the sum of N200,00 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the trial to 10th January.
