Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo has charged the pioneer Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Mr. Mark Okoye to focus on key projects, particularly the regional railway connecting the five states in the region. This is due to its significant economic importance to the region, as it will foster the needed development of the area, Soludo explained.
According to the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, at its fourth meeting on Monday, the state Executive Council, bid farewell to Okoye, on resumption of office as the SEDC helmsman.
In an earlier reaction, the governor commended President Bola Tinubu for Okoye’s appointment, expressing confidence that his role as MD of SEDC would significantly benefit the Southeast region.
Until his new appointment, Okoye was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the state Investment Promotion and Protection Agency.
Soludo stated: ‘Okoye is fit for the job, considering his wealth of experience in investment banking and dedication to public service while serving as the MD/CEO of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency and previously as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in the state’.
The governor stated that the appointment reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering development in the region. He, therefore, extended his good wishes to the Chairman and members of the governing board of the commission.
