The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, on Tuesday, declared two seats vacant and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to organise bye-elections for the concerned federal constituencies.

The two seats became vacant following the appointment of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Hon. Tanko Sunono as Minister of Interior, and Minister of State for Education, respectively by President Bola Tinubu.

The decision to declare the seats vacant followed the reading of their resignation letters at a plenary session on Tuesday.

Tunji-Ojo was elected to represent the Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State; while Sunono was elected to represent the Yauri/Shanta/Ngaski Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.
