Super Eagles vice captain, William Troost-Ekong has said the team is battle-ready for the game against Cote d’Ivoire.

Troost-Ekong and his teammates must avoid defeat against the Elephants to stay in contention for a place in the Round of 16.

Jean-Louis Gasset’s men will enjoy the support of their vociferous fans at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium.

The atmosphere is expected to be a challenge for the Super Eagles.

The centre-back, however, said the Super Eagles have experienced similar challenges in the past and will be up to the task.

“We wanted to win the first game, but things didn’t go the way we wanted. We have put that behind us and the focus is now on the game against Cote d’Ivoire,” Troost-Ekong told a press conference attended by newsmen in Abidjan.

“We have prepared the same way, but we hope to win this time around. Coming up against the hosts is going be a big challenge for us.

“There are a lot of experienced players in our team, who have played in games like this in the past, so there is nothing to fear for us.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but I’m confident we will win”.
