The Friends of Jagaban Initiative (FOJI) has said that it would mobilise seven millions votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s presidential election.

In a statement over the weekend, the group declared absolute support for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

The National Coordinator of FOJI, Engr. Funsho Abdul said that the decision was informed by the competence and capacity of the duo.

“In the light of our conviction of the competence and capacity which are consistent with Asiwaju’s antecedent, we have unanimously resolved to mobilise support for Asiwaju/Shettima candidacy in the forthcoming presidential election.

“As an organised group with core objective of promoting good governance in Nigeria, we deem it necessary to declare our willingness to collaborate and work with the APC, Tinubu Campaign Organisation and other sister bodies to ensure victories at the polls come 2023. With the consistent support of our members in the Diaspora, we have put strategies in place to deliver seven million votes for the Tinubu/Shettima presidency,” Abdul said.

He further said of Tinubu: “Out of all the major contenders for the presidency, Asiwaju has been the only one who has mentored and supported people in their youthful age to credible leadership positions from different parts of the country, irrespective of tribe or religion.

“On the 14th January 2011, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu emerged as the youngest candidate when he became the presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria. Most notable governors who had rendered dividends of democracy in their various states were nurtured by Asiwaju. We are therefore resolute in our belief that Asiwaju is a provider of progressive ideas and a mentor of dependable leaders who can take Nigeria to enviable position in the comity of developed nations of the world”.

Abdul explained that the group’s membership cuts across ethnic groups, geopolitical zones, religious, cultural and professional tendencies with the objective to passionately promote a prosperous and unified Nigeria, as well as work for the success of the Tinubu/Shettima candidacy”.

He said: “We have built a formidable structure across the six geopolitical zones to beat the drum of support for our friend, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential victory. Our members in the Diaspora are also working tirelessly on this mandate”.
