The publisher of The Guardian newspapers, Mrs. Maiden Ibru has rated ThisDay newspaper as the best national daily in the country.
While receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at ThisDay’s 30th Anniversary Awards on Monday at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Ibru not only encouraged the newspapers to continue the good work, she also said: ‘I really appreciate this. It came as a shock. Thank you very much. Continue to do what you do at ThisDay.
‘It is definitely the number one paper in the country. It is a fact. I’m the Publisher and Chairman of Guardian newspapers. ThisDay newspaper is the No. 1 newspaper in Nigeria’.
ThisDay newspaper was founded on 22 January 1995.
Among the attendees were governors, ministers, chieftains of political parties, and entrepreneurs.
