Reports from several states where the All Progressives Congress (APC) held its presidential primary elections have shown overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu against his sole challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo
In Delta State, the President won all 407,646 votes, leaving Osifo with no vote, according to the result announced in Asaba, the state capital, by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who served as the collation officer for the exercise in the state.
He said that registered APC members in the state stood at 407,815.
Oborevwori commended the party members for their large turnout and participation in the exercise.
He said the outcome of the primary showed that the APC remained strong and united in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oborevwori also praised party members in riverine communities for mobilising supporters and participating actively despite difficult terrain and transportation challenges.
‘When you get your internal democracy right, people will be happy, and the result will reflect it. If candidates were imposed, we would not have seen this level of participation and support’, he stated.
The primary election was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party stakeholders and supporters.
Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon served as the agent for President Tinubu, while Kelvin Omas Ezekiel represented Osifo.
In Zamfara State, President Tinubu secured 321,579 votes, according to Governor Dauda Lawal, who was the chief returning officer.
He declared the President the winner after collating results from all 14 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
‘The total number of registered APC members in the state stood at 365,796, with 322,435 accredited voters participating in the exercise.
‘A total of 321,620 votes were cast during the presidential primary election’, he said.
The governor added that the results would be transmitted to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja for further action.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mahmud Isah, led a team of INEC officials to monitor the exercise.
Senators Ikra Aliyu-Bilbis and Sahabi Ya’u, representing Zamfara Central and Zamfara North respectively, served as returning officers and presented results from their respective zones to the chief returning officer.
President Bola Tinubu also scored 131,096 votes in the presidential primary in the 192 wards in Edo State.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, who was the returning officer, said that President Tinubu scored 131,096 votes, while Osifo secured one vote.
The governor said: ‘The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. I participated in the election myself as I voted in my ward, and the results have been presented as they are from all the 192 wards in the state, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes while Osifo scored one vote’.
The collation officers from the 18 LGAs were at the party secretariat on Ikpoba Hill in GRA Benin, the state capital, to present the results as scored by the candidates in the primary election.
