President Bola Tinubu is expected to grace the graduation ceremony of Course 32 of the Nigerian Defence College (NDC) scheduled for 23 August.

The Commandant of NDC Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, announced on Saturday, 10 August, while speaking to journalists during the NDC graduation golf tournament at Tukur Buratai International Golf Resort and Country Club, Manbilla Barracks, Abuja.

The Commandant, who was represented by the Secretary of the College, Air Vice Marshal Titus Dauda, said the NDC graduation golf tournament was one of the activities to mark the graduation ceremony of NDC Course 32.

The Commandant said participants of the NDC Course 32 were inaugurated in September 2023, and drawn from the military, para-military, ministries, departments and agencies, and allied nations.

He said: “As you are aware, the College is not just about intellectual activities. We ascribe a high premium to the physical fitness of participants and staff.

“It is also a means of relating with one another, “especially now that the participants are about to pass out with time to relate with other alumni of the college and senior officers”.

Also speaking, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, who was the Guest of Honour at the event, said the event aside from being one of the concluding activities of participants of Course 32, was also intended to have “an intellectual body that is fit and in proper shape for war, especially at the strategic and operational levels”.

He said: “And so today’s event, brings together the camaraderie of conviviality amongst golfers and those who identify with the college. But most of all to relieve some of the pressure of the intense academic activity that goes on in the college as they begin to wind down from the tedium of the last one year.

“So we are very happy that this forms a big part and in fact a chunk of the easing off as these gentlemen and ladies begin to wind down in order to take up greater responsibilities of defence of our nation and assuring the security of us and our communities”.

Other activities slated for the graduation of participants include the Juma’at service, TOMBOLA night, Sports Fiesta, Inter-Denominational Church Service, and the graduation ceremony.
