President Bola Tinubu will welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a State Visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.

The visit will mark a pivotal moment in the Nigeria-India relations, as it is the first by an Indian Prime Minister since Dr Manmohan Singh’s visited in 2007, which laid the groundwork for a strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Indian prime minister is coming with a delegation aimed at bolstering economic and cultural ties.

Onanuga disclosed that during his stay, Modi and Tinubu will engage in high-level bilateral discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in critical sectors such as trade, technology, security, and education.

He stated that both leaders are expected to sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) that will serve to deepen cooperation and foster mutual growth.

These agreements, he said, are anticipated to cover areas, including renewable energy, agriculture, and information technology – fields where both countries have expressed strong interest in their collaboration.
