In a thrilling display of sportsmanship, the Seyi Tinubu Basketball Championship has concluded in Plateau State, with the Dogon Dutse Warriors emerging victorious.
Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, offered a total of N5 million in cash prizes, with N3 million awarded to the Dogon Dutse Warriors and N2 million to the runners-up, Tudun Wada Lakers.
The championship, held at the iconic Dogon Dutse Basketball Pitch in Jos, aimed to promote unity, foster youth development, and strengthen community bonds in Plateau State.
Speaking at the event, Seyi Tinubu, represented by Engineer Auwal Ibrahim, expressed joy in the successful hosting of the tournament and the impact it has had on the local community.
âPlateau State is gradually regaining its former glory as the home of peace and tourism, and this tournament is a testament to the potential of the region.

Mr. Tinubu, who emphasised that the tournament was just one example of how sports could serve as a catalyst for positive change in Nigeria, added âThis event highlights the importance of sports in fostering national unity and youth empowerment.
âWe must recognise that sports have the power to bring people together, regardless of their background or beliefs. I also want to use this opportunity to thank President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership. His decisions are already laying the foundation for the future, especially for our youth. The manager of the Dogon Dutse Warriors, Mallo Bokkos expressed happiness in the teamâs hard-earned victory. âThis win is a result of the hard work and dedication of every single player on this teamâ, Bokkos said.
âWeâve been working toward this moment for a long time, and to see it finally come to fruition is an incredible feelingâ.
On the other hand, assistant captain of the Tudun Wada Lakers, Ramatu Diallo accepted the runners-up prize on behalf of her team with grace and pride. âItâs disappointing to come so close to victory, but we gave it our bestâ, Diallo said.
âThis competition has taught us valuable lessons, and weâll be back next year, stronger and more determinedâ.
