The operations, conducted on Saturday, 26 September 2026, also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform and other items, the military said.
In a statement signed by the task force’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the military said troops in Sokoto acted on intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops subsequently launched an operation at the location, where they encountered and killed one suspected terrorist.
An AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, clothing and other items were recovered from the area, according to the statement.
Six victims rescued in Zamfara
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops responded to information about an attempted kidnapping involving members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The troops engaged the suspected kidnappers on arrival, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes.
Six kidnap victims were subsequently rescued and taken to a safe location, where they were expected to remain pending reunification with their families.
The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated its continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the North-West.
The military also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information about the activities of terrorists and other criminal groups in their communities.
It said cooperation from the public remained important to ongoing efforts to improve security across the region.
