Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued 12 civilians kidnapped in separate operations in Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The operations were carried out on September 7, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and prevent abductions across the Joint Operations Area.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt Col Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday evening.
According to Danja, troops in the first operation responded to a distress call after terrorists infiltrated a residence in Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda LGA.
He said the troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon six kidnapped civilians before fleeing across a nearby river.
The rescued victims were subsequently evacuated and reunited with their families.
In a separate operation in Tsafe LGA, troops monitoring activities along the Main Supply Route observed terrorists attempting to intercept a Sharon vehicle at Kwanoni Village.
Danja said the troops immediately mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon the attack and retreat into the surrounding bush.
He added that six civilians were rescued during the operation.
“The successful operations further demonstrate the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to secure lives and property of the citizenry while disrupting their activities and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area,” Danja said.
The military spokesman urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and relevant information to support ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
“Operation Fansan Yamma urges the general public to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the Theatre to eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area,” he added.
