Imo State Liaison Committee for the second Niger Delta Games (NDG) has mobilised all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state for athletes’ screening and scouting towards the games scheduled for Benin City, the Edo State capital.
The Chairman of the State Liaison Committee, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha told the media that the state is fully ready to improve on the maiden edition of the Games held last year in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
Onyeocha urged the LGAs to ensure that they registered the best athletes that would participate in the state trials.
He also revealed that the committee is working with the 17 accredited state sports associations and their coaches to ensure a successful scouting.
‘We in the state Liaison Committee has been working with recognised sports associations, and we have appealed to all LGAs to ensure the prompt registration of eligible athletes to guarantee full representation for the state’, Onyeocha told NDG Media.
He then declared: ‘Imo State is fully prepared for the Games. Young talents from across the state have been identified and mobilised’
