The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Adebowale Williams has disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force is repositioning its technical intelligence to ensure proactive policing in tackling kidnapping, insurgency, and other criminalities in the country.

During his familiarisation visit and interactive session with officers and men of the Niger State Police Command in Minna, the state capital, Williams also assured that measures have been taken to improve response time, intelligence, and prompt visibility in policing in the country.

According to him: “The Nigerian police is committed to getting rid of all forms of criminality, including cybercrime, for which a cybercrime unit has been set up. As the leading internal security agency in the country, measures have been adopted to stop criminals from crossing from one state to another. Soon we will see the end of the problem.”

He warned police personnel to protect and not abuse citizens, as anyone found wanting will face the wrath of the law.

He urged the command to reflect the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu in the discharge of its duties. He also assured that the welfare of police officers in the country is being given the required priority to boost their morale and confidence.

AIG Williams further applauded the leadership of the state’s commissioner of police for the recent breakthrough recorded in fighting crimes and criminalities. In the same vein, he thanked Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for the vehicles donated to the command to help ease transportation.

Earlier, Commissioner of Police Ogundele Ayodeji told the AIG that insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping are prevalent in villages bordering Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

The command’s attention, he stressed, has always been on Mariga, Rafi, Munya, Rijau, and Shiroro local government areas.

“Youth restiveness is usually experienced in Minna and Kontagora. The Command had embarked on massive raids of black spots in conjunction with other security agencies in the state, through which many thugs disturbing the peace in the metropolis were arrested and prosecuted. This has ensured relative peace in the metropolis,” he stated.

The session was attended by officers and men of the command as well as personnel from sister security organisations and stakeholders.
