Popular Nigerian skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has addressed speculation surrounding Funke Akindele’s absence from the premiere of his upcoming cinema movie, StarLomo.
Kamo State, who regards Akindele as his boss and close colleague, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to dismiss suggestions that there was a rift between them.
The skitmaker explained that Akindele was unable to attend the premiere because she was out of the country and urged members of the public not to read further meaning into her absence.
“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we’re on good terms,” he wrote.
“She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise.”
He added that the pair had discussed the matter and that Akindele would support the movie despite missing the premiere.
“We’ve spoken about it, and she’s going to support this film. I’d appreciate it if our personal relationship isn’t speculated on. Let’s keep our focus on the film,” he added.
The clarification followed the premiere of StarLomo, which was held in Lekki, Lagos, on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Several Nollywood stars attended the event, including Odunlade Adekola, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Iyabo Ojo, KieKie, Timini Egbuson and Biola Bayo, among others.
Akindele’s absence from the event attracted attention online, particularly because of her close relationship with Kamo State and their previously frequent public appearances together.
Kamo State had earlier expressed appreciation to guests, partners, cast and crew following the successful premiere.
StarLomo marks his cinema production debut, with Kayode Kasum serving as the director. The film is scheduled for nationwide release on Friday, September 25, 2026.
