Yabatech gets new acting registrar

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has approved the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Akinwale as the new acting Registrar of Yaba College of Technology.

A statement by the institution said Akinwale was appointed in the absence of the Governing Council with an effective date of Friday, 26 January 2024.

It said he would be in the acting capacity until a substantive Registrar is appointed by the Federal Government.

Until this appointment, Akinwale was the Head of Department, Council Affairs in the Registry Unit of the College, according to the statement.

He holds B.A, MSc (Political Science), and PhD in Political Science and wrote his first published book titled, ‘Human Resources Management: An Overview’ in 1999.

In December 2000, he won the second-place position at the national level of the Nigerian Institute of Management’s Young Managers Competition in a paper titled, ‘Human Resources Planning: An Elixir for Management in Public and Private Sector Organisations in Nigeria’.

The statement read: “A catalogue of his achievements during his 43 years of service in the 70 years history of the College includes his appointment as the first Secretary to the Committee of Federal Rectors in Nigeria from June 1992 to December 1993.

Dr Akinwale was also in the secretarial team of the college’s monumental book, titled ‘Yaba College of Technology at 40’ and his unique performance as a member of the secretarial team earned him commendation from the College Governing Council. Since then, he has recorded 17 commendation letters from the management of Yaba College of Technology”.
