The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed sadness over the death of journalist Dotun Oladipo, describing his passing as a major loss to Nigeria’s media industry and the country.
In a statement, Yilwatda said Oladipo’s death had created a significant void at a time when the country needed experienced, courageous and responsible voices in journalism.
He commended the late journalist’s contributions to the development of the Nigerian media, particularly his commitment to professional standards, credible reporting and the advancement of the industry.
Yilwatda described Oladipo as a professional who understood the responsibility of the media to society and used journalism to inform citizens, hold institutions accountable and support democratic development.
“Dotun Oladipo was not merely a journalist; he was a committed professional who understood the enormous responsibility of the media to society,” he said.
The APC chairman said Oladipo’s professionalism, courage and intellectual depth would remain part of his legacy, adding that his death was a loss to his family, colleagues, friends and the wider media community.
He also commiserated with Oladipo’s family, colleagues and the Nigerian media fraternity, urging them to draw comfort from his contributions to journalism.
“On behalf of my family, the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress, I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Dotun Oladipo and the entire Nigerian media. May God grant him eternal rest and comfort all those he left behind,” Yilwatda said.
