In Bayelsa State, a man named Alexander Diri was allegedly attacked and killed by herdsmen.

According to reports, the incident took place on Monday in the state’s Yenagoa Local Government Area, close to the Zarama-Yambiri community.

The lifeless body of the deceased, who was said to be 49 years old, was discovered on Tuesday near the Zarama Market junction on the East-West Road.

What led to the murder of the victim, who was said to be an indigene of the area, could not be ascertained.

According to the Punch, the assailants stabbed him multiple times and beheaded him.

“They cut off his head and stabbed him anyhow,” a source in the area said.

The incident, however, sparked protest as some angry youths from the area mobilized to the scene and blocked the Zarama-Mbiama section of the East-West Road for several hours.

The protest resulted in gridlock and disrupted vehicular movement, leaving many travelers stranded.

Contacted, the spokesman for the state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
