A former governorship aspirant in the Ogun State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Kayode Amusan, has said he is convinced that the clarity, inclusiveness and people-centred nature of the consensus candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola’s agenda represent a strong pathway to victory for the party and sustainable development for the state.
Announcing his acceptance of Adeola’s candidacy, the former two-term member of the House of Representatives said that he deemed it both responsible and statesmanlike to align himself with and support the Adeola’s aspiration.
Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the 10th Senate, was adopted by the party during its strategic caucus meeting held at its secretariat on Abiola Way, Abeokuta, the state capital, on Monday evening.
In a message almost immediately after the announcement, Amusan described his acceptance of the party’s decision as a demonstration of political maturity and loyalty.
Explaining that he had withdrawn his governorship ambition in the overriding interest of unity, stability and collective progress within the party, Amusan said that he had significantly suspended his active governorship campaign weeks earlier, following a series of strategic consultations and engagements with Adeola.
He said that the interactions provided him with deeper insight into the Senator’s vision and developmental blueprint for the state.
He said he has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Adeola.
Amusan described Adeola’s candidacy as a well-deserved recognition of experience, capacity and commitment to service, and offered prayers for his success at the polls in the 2027 general election.
