The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the January 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, with 18 political parties fielding presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
The list, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, includes the presidential candidates and their running mates cleared to contest the election.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is fielding incumbent President Bola Tinubu, 74, alongside Vice-President Kashim Shettima, 59, who will again serve as his running mate.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is presenting former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, 79, with former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, 61, as his running mate.
Peter Gregory Obi, 65, is listed as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankwaso, 69, as his running mate.
The Labour Party (LP) is fielding Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, 43, alongside Hajja Bintu Konto, 54, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is presenting Sandy Ojang Onor, 60, with Umaru Babangida, 61, as his running mate.
Other presidential candidates on the list are Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje of the Action Alliance (AA), with Shehu Hussaini; Aliyu Abbas-Bin of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), with Chinazam Ike; and Kabiru Yusuf of the Allied Peoples Party (APP), with Peace Egobia Ofordile.
Omoyele Sowore is listed as the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), with Haruna Garba Magashi as his running mate.
Also on the list are Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), with Musa Lawal Daura; and Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party (BP), with Usman Turaki Mustapha.
Moses Olusoji Adebisi is representing the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA), with Nafisat Usaku as his running mate, while Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori is the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP), with Uchenna Anthony Chukwuemeka.
The National Rescue Movement (NRM) is fielding Nkem Esther Okereke, alongside Nasir Muhammed Sulaiman.
Donald Duke is listed as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), with Kabiru Rabiu as his running mate.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is fielding Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo, with Usman Muhammed Bugaje, while Peter Ada Agada of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) is paired with Patience Ndidi Key.
Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu is the presidential candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), alongside Hassan Khalid.
According to the document, none of the 18 presidential candidates or their running mates declared any form of disability.
The list features two female presidential candidates — Okwori of the NDP and Okereke of the NRM — as well as four female vice-presidential candidates.
The candidates’ ages range from 35 to 80, while their declared qualifications range from First School Leaving Certificate, WAEC and NABTEB certificates to university degrees.
The list also includes candidates who hold doctorate degrees among both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
The publication of the final list marks another major step in INEC’s preparations for the January 2027 general elections.
