Lanre Arogundade leads Ekiti Parapo College Old Students Association

The Executive Director of the International Press Centre (IPC), Nigeria’s leading media resource centre, Mr. Lanre Arogundade has been elected the National President of Ekiti Parapo College Ido Ekiti Old Students Association (EPCOSA).

According to the results announced by the spokesperson of the EPCOSA Electoral Committee, Prof. Oluwatoyin Babatunde, the former Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) won by 275 votes to 32 against Prof. Olu Adeleye.

By his election at the association’s 2025 Annual General Meeting and Reunion held at the school hall last Saturday, Arogundade, who was also a former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, ssucceed nother media professional, Mr. Dotun Adekanmbi, who was president for four years during which time the school successfully celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2024.

He will lead a new executive committee to run the affairs of the association for the 2025 – 2027 service year.

In his acceptance speech, Arogundade, a widely travelled journalist and author pledged to build on the successes recorded by his predecessors and chart a new course of progress for the association.

He said that the visions and suggestions of the executives, the Sets and the Branches as well as the members would be harmonised to produce a strategic plan for EPCOSA over the next two years with the objective of driving further growth and development of the college.

He said: ‘The new Executive Committee of our association comprises individuals with diverse professional backgrounds whose collective knowledge would help drive the goal of securing the school’s environment, upgrading facilities, motivating the students and improving the welfare of the staff. With the support and cooperation of members, the new Executive Committee team will surmount every challenge ahead of us’.

Also elected as Vice President is Dr. Olusola Ogunsina. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. Engr. Deji Afolabi, a fellow of the Nigerian Institutions of Civil Engineer and a registered engineer with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, was elected General Secretary.

Others elected include Mrs. Adeola Babatunde as Assistant Secretary. She is a Senior Assistant Registrar at Bamidele Olomilua University of Education Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State and a member of the Institute of Corporate Administration. Mr. Ilesanmi Adesuyi was elected Financial Secretary/Treasurer. He is an electrical consultant and contractor, and formerly with Ikeja Distribution Company.

Mr. Samson Ekundayo is the Auditor. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Principal Partner of Ekundayo Folorunso Samson and Co. Mr. Kayode Okimoba, the Legal Adviser, is Attorney at Law and Notary Public and Founder/Chief Counsel of Law & Temple Solicitors of Nigeria, while Mr. Ayo Ajiboye is the Public Relations Officer/Social Secretary. He was Chairman of the Ekiti State council of NUJ and Mass Communication lecturer at Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.

Founded on 29 January 1954, Ekiti Parapo College, Ido Ekiti is the first and only Ekiti-wholly owned community post-primary educational institution built on the dreams of all Ekiti sons and daughters, while EPCOSA is a collective of all old students of the college.
