Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has described her frequent portrayal of witches, wicked women and antagonists in Nigerian films as a divinely assigned calling.
Ozokwor made the disclosure during a live-streamed interview hosted by content creator Carter Efe, where she addressed public curiosity about her recurring villainous roles.
The actress said she believed God had given her a particular niche in the film industry, despite her personal dislike of injustice, conflict and rancour.
“I think God gave me that niche. I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war and rancour. When you give me those roles, I try to bring everything into them,” she said.
Ozokwor explained that she approached such roles with the intention of showing audiences the consequences of their actions and choices.
She said viewers should understand that harmful behaviour ultimately carries consequences, while good conduct can yield positive results.
“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof. Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she added.
The actress said her performances were deliberately crafted to expose the consequences of wrongdoing, framing her portrayal of villains as a form of social instruction through storytelling.
Ozokwor has become one of Nollywood’s recognisable faces, particularly for playing strong-willed and antagonistic characters in Nigerian films.
