Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke has commended residents for turning out in large numbers to participate in Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke, in a statement posted on X, urged security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain vigilant as the collation of results begins across the state.
The governor said the safety and protection of residents remained paramount, while commending security personnel deployed for the election.
“Against all odds, the people of Osun State have turned out in large numbers and are speaking with one voice. The safety and protection of our people is paramount,” he said.
Adeleke urged security agencies to maintain heightened vigilance as results are moved from polling units to wards and subsequently to local government areas for collation.
“I commend the security agencies deployed for this election and urge them to remain vigilant as we move into the collation of results; from polling units to wards to local government areas,” he said.
He also called on INEC to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the collation process, stressing the importance of protecting the sanctity of voters’ ballots.
The governor expressed confidence in the professionalism of the institutions handling the election, noting that adequate security had been provided to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
“Democracy is at its strongest when we honour the wishes of our people and protect the sanctity of their votes,” Adeleke said.
He further appealed to Osun residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding as the electoral process progresses.
“To every Osun citizen: I urge you to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to this democratic moment. Let the people’s will prevail,” he added.
