The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has approved cut-off marks for admission into public Junior Secondary Schools across the state for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The ministry disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its Press Officer, Bisi Lawani.

According to the ministry, the approved cut-off marks were determined based on candidates’ performance in the admission assessment, which was scored out of 300 marks.

“The cut-off marks are based on a total score of 300 marks obtained by candidates in the admission assessment,” the ministry said.

The assessment is a prerequisite for admission into public secondary schools in the state and is intended to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, who chaired the meeting at which the cut-off marks were approved, commended the conduct of the assessment.

Ajibefun said the examination was conducted smoothly without any major incident, while the prompt release of the results reflected the ministry’s commitment to an efficient and credible admission process.

“The examination was conducted smoothly and without any major hitch, with the results released promptly,” he said.

He added that the development demonstrated the ministry’s commitment to maintaining transparency in the admission process.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Akindele Ige, said the exercise was designed to promote merit and ensure fairness in the admission process.

“The exercise is aimed at fostering a transparent and merit-based admission process that rewards hard work while ensuring that qualified candidates have access to quality secondary education in the State,” Ige said.

Following the conclusion of the assessment, principals of public secondary schools have been directed to begin admitting candidates who meet or exceed the approved cut-off marks.

The ministry also directed Zonal and Area Education Offices to coordinate the admission exercise within their respective local government areas.

Parents and guardians were advised to obtain information and guidance on the admission process from the appropriate Education Offices or the primary schools attended by their children.

They were also urged to comply with all admission guidelines issued by the ministry.
