Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals in the state, alongside the termination of the appointments of political appointees.
The decision affects Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants serving in the administration, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.
Oyebode said the move was necessary as the governor’s first term gradually winds down ahead of the inauguration of his second term, scheduled for October 16, 2026.
However, the dissolution does not affect chairmen and members of statutory boards, including the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.
The governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain intact, in line with an earlier directive by the governor. Oyebanji had approved the retention of the councils in July 2026.
The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission are also to remain in office, although their respective boards have been dissolved.
Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor are equally exempt from the termination of appointments.
Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to Ekiti State.
He wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
