President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff.
The appointment of the outgoing Speaker has long been speculated.
The President also named former Governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to a statement by the Director of Information in the Presidency, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia was also appointed Deputy Chief of Staff.
By convention, Hadejia, who is representing Jigawa North in the outgoing Senate having served as Deputy Governor in his home state between 2015 and 2019, will serve the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima.
This is the first set of appointment to be made public since President Tinubu assumed office on Monday.
