The National Executive Council of the Government Secondary School Afikpo Old Boys’ Association (GSSAOBA) has announced the appointment of Ven. Ogbonnia Ibe-Enwo as Chairman of the Committee for the 2025 Homecoming celebrations.

A statement by the Association National PRO, Franklyn Ginger-Eke, revealed that ‘The appointment follows a resolution reached at the expanded leadership meeting of the Association held on 19 October 2024, during which it was unanimously agreed that a capable and distinguished individual was required to steer the planning and execution of the forthcoming Homecoming event’.

‘Ven. Ibe-Enwo, a longstanding and respected member of the Association, was selected in recognition of his exemplary record of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the ‘Rebuild and Restore’ initiative — a flagship programme aimed at revitalising infrastructure and strengthening the legacy of Government Secondary School Afikpo.

‘In his capacity as Chairman, Ven. Ibe-enwo will be responsible for organising a Homecoming event that will encourage broad participation from Old Boys both within Nigeria and across the diaspora.

‘He is further tasked with proposing an appropriate date and theme for the celebrations, securing a distinguished keynote speaker, mobilising resources to support ongoing developmental efforts at the school, and ensuring widespread publicity for the Association’s initiatives.

‘The committee, under his leadership, will also be responsible for developing an updated global database of Old Boys and supervising the election of a new Executive Council to lead the Association for the next three years, in accordance with the GSSAOBA Constitution.

‘The National Secretary of GSSAOBA, Mr. Chukwuemeka Eluu, in conveying the appointment, expressed confidence in Ven. Ibe-Enwo’s ability to deliver a successful Homecoming event that would reflect the spirit and aspirations of the Old Boys’ community.

‘Further details regarding the 2025 Homecoming, including the event date and keynote speaker, will be announced in due course’ the statement added.
