Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Friday, rejected the call by the acting National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to join the ruling party.
Yusuf’s reaction came barely 24 hours after Kano APC stakeholders in their majority, resolved to reconcile with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
To this extent, it appeared Ganduje may have finally complied with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to persuade Yusuf and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) members to reunite and pitch their tent with the APC.
At the end of the APC stakeholders meeting in Kano last Thursday, he subsequently reaffirmed the acceptance of the Supreme Court verdict affirming Yusuf’s victory.
Reacting to Ganduje, the Director-General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that his boss, Yusuf rejected the call in totality.
According to him, the governor like anyone else, heard Ganduje’s appeal via the platform of different social media, pointing out that the government had yet to comprehend the motive behind the call.
He said, “Well, like every other folks in Kano, the Governor of Ganduje’s calls via social media platforms, we believe, as a former governor, he should know the right channel of communication, if he sincerely wants to pass a message to the governor.
“And as for whether or not the governor will join APC, I can confirm to you that my boss has no intention to dump his party, the NNPP for any other party. Let me repeat, the governor has no interest in joining any party because he’s satisfied with the NNPP”.
