The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has congratulated two distinguished sons of Oyo State, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, and Dr. Ibrahim Adeniyi Olaifa on their nominations by President Bola Tinubu into the South West Development Commission (SWDC).
Ibikunle has been nominated as the Executive Director (Commercial and Environmental Development), while Olaifa is to assume office as Board member of the commission, upon successful screening.
The nominations await National Assembly’s confirmation. Adelabu, however, said that they reflect President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive governance, regional development, and the recognition of excellence in public service.
In justifying Ibikunle’s nomination, Adelabu cited the former’s expertise in public service at both the state and Federal levels, which would prove him in good stead in the new appointment.
‘Alhaji Ibikunle’s track record in driving innovative solutions for economic growth and stewardship in his previous appointments aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda. His leadership will undoubtedly catalyse progress in Nigeria’s commercial and ecological sectors’, the Minister said.
He emphasised that Ibikunle’s deep roots in Oyo State and his understanding of grassroots challenges position him to deliver transformative outcomes for communities nationwide.
Adelabu also celebrated Olaifa’s nomination to the Board of the commission, highlighting his decades of dedication to public service and legislative excellence.
He said: ‘Dr. Olaifa’s relentless advocacy for equitable development exemplifies the values of integrity and patriotism. His role in the commission will be pivotal in advancing infrastructure, education, and socio-economic initiatives across the South West’.
He expressed confidence that Olaifa’s strategic vision would bridge gaps in regional development while aligning with the President’s broader national agenda.
Adelabu urged stakeholders, citizens, and development partners to rally behind the nominees, stressing that their success translates to collective progress for Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the Ministry of Power’s commitment to collaborating with all agencies to ensure sustainable energy access and economic empowerment, which underpin the nation’s developmental goals.
The Minister commended President Tinubu for prioritising merit and inclusivity in his administration’s appointments. ‘These nominations are a testament to the President’s resolve to harness Nigeria’s brightest minds for national development. I have no doubt that both appointees will uphold the trust reposed in them and deliver exceptional service to our nation’, he said.
