Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has dedicated his victory at the Supreme Court to God.

In a unanimous judgement, the Supreme Court affirmed Adeleke’s election, which has been a matter of prolonged litigation between him and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, whom he toppled in the election last 16th July.

Adeleke reacted: “This is a historic landmark in the history of Osun politics. Today is the day our God ordained to stand his authority as the owner and giver of power.

“Today is that moment when the will of the people ordained by God survived the anti-masses plot of powerful forces. We, therefore, celebrate God Almighty.

“We dedicate today’s victory to Him. State power is of God and he bestowed it on whomever he wishes. I will remain God’s driven, divinely inspired, I will govern with the fear of God. Our governorship is an affirmation that we are for the people, by the people”.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the election having polled 403,371 votes, as against Oyetola’s 375,027 votes.

Although Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress won at the state election tribunal, Adeleke triumphed at both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
