Anambra boy to represent Nigeria at global chemistry event

A student of Premium Breed Secondary School, Nnewichi Nnewi, Anambra State, Favour Chigozie Nwadinobi has emerged as the overall best in Chemistry in Anambra State.

As a result, he becomes one of the six finalists to represent Nigeria at the 2023 International Chemistry Olympiad holding in Switzerland.

Nwadinobi competed with students from over 600 schools in the state. He attributed the achievement to God, his teachers and his dedication to studies.

Welcoming the team in her office at the State Secretariat complex Awka, the state capital on Friday, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh said that Nwadinobi’s feat was a demonstration of the state government’s unwavering commitment to providing for its students with every opportunity to excel academically at both national and international levels.

Chuma-Udeh commended Nwadinobi and the school for their outstanding performance, while emphasising the importance of continued dedication and hard work.

She enjoined them not to rest on their laurels as the state would eagerly anticipate an outstanding performance at the Olympiad.

The Education Secretary of the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, Venable Henry Nduka said the feat was a testament to the present administration’s commitment to nurturing and promoting academic excellence among its students.

The Principal of the School, Canon Nwajide thanked the state government for providing the enabling environment for the state’s education sector, adding that at the state level of the competition, the school clinched the first three positions.
