Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade was brought to tears as her Spanish club, Atlético Madrid Femenina orchestrated a heartwarming reunion between the forward and her mother, Ajoke, in celebration of Mother’s Day.
In a video posted on the club’s Instagram page, Ajibade was stunned after seeing her mother walk into the studio in Madrid during a club interview.
At the sight of her mother, an emotional Ajibade could not hold back as she went down to the floor in tears, before rushing towards her mother for a warm embrace.
She said: “I didn’t expect to see her, so I was so surprised and I think it is a great moment for me. It’s like no way, ‘am I dreaming or is this the spirit of my mother”?
Ajibade’s mother had the opportunity to accompany her to public places, savouring every precious moment together.
It was a big moment for the Falcons star, who had her mother in attendance as she scored in a league match, a tremendous moment she had never before witnessed.
Reflecting on the match, Ajibade said: “It was an emotional game for me. I think this is going to live in my heart forever because it is the first time my mom comes to the field to watch me play football. And I was so happy that I could get a goal for her. It’s so special”.
Ajibade added: “My mom means a lot to me. My mom is life to me. My mom is everything I have today. I want to always make her proud. I’m happy that today I can make her proud.”
