Fifty-nine students of the of Bowen University will be graduating with first class degrees and be awarded their honours at the convocation of the university on Saturday.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole also announced on Monday at a media briefing that a doctorate degree in Public Administration would be conferred on former President Goodluck Jonathan for his peaceful disposition while in office.
In all, 942 students will graduate with various classes of degrees.
Ogunwole said: “The hallmark of this convocation is the conferment of Honorary Degrees (Honoris causa) on distinguished individuals.
“His Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR will be conferred the degree of Doctor of Public Administration.
“His Excellency, Dr Jonathan is recognised as a humble public servant and politician that has made a positive impact on humanity through good governance.
“His mantra, ‘my ambition is not worth the blood of any single Nigerian’ has come to stand the test of time. This noble man graciously took the bow from office”, the VC said.
He further said: “Deacon Nebolisa Arah will be conferred the degree of Doctor of Entrepreneurship. He is an astute businessman, silent philanthropist, mentor to many, a lover of Jesus Christ and a consummate gentleman.
“Also, the late Rev. Dr. William Tolbert Jnr (Doctor of Business Administration), the 20th President of Liberia and the first African to serve as President of the Baptist World Alliance.
“Dr Tolbert was an exceptional religious figure who had distinct moral and exemplary character in leadership. He was a peace lover and peace maker. During the Civil war, Dr. Tolbert made moves to broker peace”.
