The Adekunle Adedayo family, through Bunmi Adedayo Foundation, has given a sum of N250,000 to Michael Ofeimun, who won the 2023 spelling bee competition.

In a statement on Tuesday, the foundation said the gifts were in commemoration of the 10th-year memorial anniversary of Oluwabunmi Adedayo, who died on 25 September 2013.

It said, “The Adedayo family, in honour of their late son, Oluwabunmi Adedayo, hosted the 10th year memorial service with a spelling bee competition where Micheal Ofeimun came first and won N250,000. A six-year scholarship was also given to pupils of Navy Primary School Ojo.

“BAF has also provided training to over 5,000 teachers and given hundreds of young students educational materials in order to improve access to learning materials and quality education in the country”.

In the statement by Executive Director, BAF, Mrs Oluwakemi Odedeyi, called on the government to prioritise education as a key value of solving the challenges of out-of-school children in the country.
