President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend the 10th anniversary remembrance of legal icon and revolutionary politician, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, in Abuja on 2 May.
Braithwaite, the founder of the Second Republic party, the Nigeria Advance Party, died on 28 March 2016, aged 82 years.
Last week, during a visit by the late leader’s son, Barrister Olumide Braithwaite, and members of the organising committee, to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the latter confirmed his participation at the event, which is organised to commemorate the life and contributions of the elder statesman, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s legal and democratic development.
Dignitaries expected at the event include Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande; Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka; and Senator Benedict Obi, who will serve as Special Guest of Honour.
Highlight of the programme will be the launch of a biography documenting the life and legacy of the late legal practitioner.
Olumide Braithwaite said the remembrance would provide an opportunity to reflect on the values of justice, democracy and principled leadership.
